Who we are Energy in Your Community is an exploratory project dedicated to empowering local communities with the knowledge and skills to deliver their own community-owned energy schemes. We're giving local people the tools to explore the possibilities and practicaliities of community energy, while keeping the community in control at every stage. We aim to provide the know-how and practical support to bring people together to make informed choices about their communities.

What we're doing Energy in Your Community is a knowlege-sharing project. We have the expertise and experience to guide communities through what's involved in creating a community energy scheme, from initial expressions of interest, through putting together bids to fund feasibility studies and preparing planning applications, to providing support when deciding how to run a project.
Community updates We're currently focusing on a number of communities in Bath and North East Somerset. Together, they reflect a range of local priorities and opportunities. We're recording the progress of each of these community conversations, so everyone can share what we learn along the way. Check this page regularly for the latest progress, as we update it.
Community pages More information coming soon Twerton and Whiteway Radstock and Westfield How we've teamed up with these communities Three communities took part in a pilot workshop in 2022, and we're continuing to work with some of them through this project. You can read a summary of the discussions, ideas, and insights that emerged from those initial workshops in our Renewable Energy Conversation Findings Report . We chose three further communities in 2025, through a public invitation to express an interest . As of May 2026, two of these are moving forward with this community conversations project. We're holding more workshops with our communities in the coming weeks and months. Check out our events calendar for more details. Where communities as a whole decide not to pursue community-owned energy generation, we're continuing to provide support to raise awareness of energy efficiency and renewable technology with interested individuals and groups, on a domestic basis, through the Energy at Home project.
