Energy in Your Community helps local people explore opportunities for community-owned renewable energy. We can help you understand what may be possible, explore options and find out whether ideas could be feasible.
How we're working with your area This community conversation supports the communities of Peasedown, Wellow and Shoscombe. It builds on ideas first explored in 2022, when local people took part in a workshop about community‑owned renewable energy.
Since then, we have continued the conversation through community events, workshops and a Community Energy Survey. Local people have helped identify ideas and locations to discuss. Community feedback helps inform whether any options should be explored further.
Community Energy Survey: May to July 2026
The Community Energy Survey for this area has now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part. We received 237 responses. We have now reviewed the results and published a summary of the findings.

Progress so far We have made good progress in our conversations with this area so far:

Survey results The survey report is not a decision. It summarises what people told us during this phase of engagement. No development proposals exist and no decisions have been made.
Overall, 51% of respondents said they would support further conversations to explore the possibility of a community energy project near Peasedown, Wellow and Shoscombe, 29% said they would not, and 18% said maybe. As an open community survey, the results reflect the views of those who chose to respond and should not be interpreted as representative of the wider population.
The results do not commit any community to developing a project at any of the locations identified. They provide information to help determine whether particular options should be explored further.
Any future community energy proposals would need more work. This would include:
further community discussion talking to landowners technical and landscape assessments checking grid connections financial feasibility work any required planning and regulatory processes Based on community feedback and the environmental and landscape constraints identified so far, locations within the Cotswolds National Landscape (formerly the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) are not proposed for further exploration through the Energy in Your Community project.

What happens next The survey is one stage of the community conversation. No decision has been made to develop a community energy project.
The next stage will consider whether particular options should be explored further, including through technical feasibility work where appropriate. We will also continue the community conversation and explore whether to form a community working group to look at options in more detail.

Community workshop A workshop will take place on Monday, 21 September 2026 at 6.30pm at the Hive in Peasedown St John .
