Home energy improvements
Stephen is an Energy Champion volunteer who enjoys helping local residents feel more confident about understanding their energy use and the changes they can make at home.
Why I became an Energy Champion
Stephen says his Christian faith inspired him to take practical action on climate change.
“Pope Francis created this document called Laudato Si’ ('Everything is connected'), which said all people who claim to be Christian need to get on with addressing the environmental crisis. So we said, 'Okay, we’ll do it'.”
Helping people in the community
Stephen enjoys volunteering at community events, talking to residents about their energy use and sharing his own experiences of making changes.
“It’s really good fun to chat to people about what they’re doing, what they feel the issues are, and to offer our experience of what we’ve gained from doing it.”

Why more people should get involved
Stephen believes that community action grows when people inspire one another.
“This needs to be a network of people showing that making the transition is valuable and worth doing. The more, the merrier. It’s really good fun meeting people, chatting about what they’re doing, and sharing what we’ve learned.”
