Developing a community energy project can be complicated, particularly in the early stages. A new programme, Community Energy Go, is helping community groups access free expert support, resources and guidance to develop renewable and low-carbon energy projects.
What is Community Energy GO?
Community Energy GO is a programme led by the Centre for Sustainable Energy, Community Energy England and Ashden, working with a wider network of community energy experts.
It has been set up to help community organisations navigate some of the challenges involved in developing a project, from turning an initial idea into something more developed to accessing specialist knowledge when it is needed.
Support includes:
- guidance during the early stages of developing a project
- access to specialist expertise
- resources and webinars
- help to understand and overcome common project challenges
- support to build the skills and capacity of community organisations
Who can get involved?
Community Energy GO is aimed at non-profit community organisations interested in developing renewable or low-carbon energy projects.
This includes established community energy organisations, but also groups that might not usually think of themselves as community energy groups, such as faith groups, sports clubs and social groups.
