We support communities in exploring locally owned renewable energy through a two-stage process:
- Start the conversation
Express interest and, if selected, take part in workshops to discuss local energy needs, opportunities, and ideas - Explore opportunities
If your project looks viable, get support to assess renewable options, funding possibilities, and delivery models.
Grant funding to support technical fact-finding is available for groups ready to take the next step.
Our partners are also involved in a variety of advice and practical projects, to spread awareness of how local people can make their homes and community buildings more energy efficient.
Visit Energy in your Community
Where communities as a whole decide not to go ahead with community-owned energy projects, we're continuing to support interested members and groups. Together, we're exploring what they can do on an individual basis to improve energy efficiency and get involved with renewable energy, through Energy at Home tools, resources and events.
